Welcome and thank you for stopping by to check out my blog! I apologize in advance but my first post is going to be a long one, so settle in while I delve into why I decided to begin sharing my life online.

Five and a half years ago, after I graduated from the University of Kentucky, I moved out to Hawaii for a three month internship with Nordstrom. I immediately fell in love with the company, the Nordstrom culture (and Hawaii!) and was hired on permanently. Thus began what I thought would be the start of my forever career. Fast forward to present day, nine Nordstrom stores and five states later and what became an extremely scary and life-altering decision.

For the past 3 years of my career I had held several management roles throughout the company but due to the changing retail environment, Nordstrom decided to restructure these roles company wide. At the beginning of last year I had been living in NC since early 2017, and was working as the Women’s/Kids Department Manager at Nordstrom Rack in Charlotte when the restructure first affected me.

My role was eliminated and I was offered an Assistant Manager role at my store. I was DEVASTATED and I went back and forth about taking the job before turning it down. I was prepared to leave the company but I had a lingering feeling that I wasn’t done just yet. I decided to take several steps down and go back into sales. I contacted one of my previous managers and decided to move to Michigan to work for her at the Nordstrom in Troy.

I quickly got promoted a few times not long after that which ultimately led me to my final role as the Women’s Department Manager at the Nordstrom Rack in Troy. Once again, my job became affected by another restructure and I was offered an Assistant Manager role at my current store. Unlike last year, I made my decision almost immediately and turned down the offer. I decided to leave the company without a single job lined up in order to begin blogging. Eek!

Despite everything I have nothing but love for Nordstrom because it brought me to where I am now: on the path to a new and exciting journey! I will be eternally grateful for all the friends I have made, the chance to move throughout the country several times, and the opportunity to have worked for one of the most renowned companies in customer service and fashion.

I have long thought about starting a blog and have even attempted a few times but wound up giving up after a bit. This shift in the company gave me the push I needed to follow my heart and 100% commit to blogging for real. I know it won’t be easy and it may not be the most logical or financially stable decision but I am so passionate and so ready to dive in! I am beyond excited for this new chapter in my life and I am super thankful that you are here to follow along! I hope you enjoyed learning about me and I want to encourage you all to follow your heart as well. You never know where it may take you!

Lots of love,

Amanda ❤️
